Hey! You done with your holiday buying yet?
Well, ARE you?
If not, no problem! As we all know, giving the gift of “Paul Tobin” written novels or graphic novels is a tradition that stretches back for several centuries, and is perhaps the most important moment in any holiday season. But, which of my projects is right for you and your loved ones? All of them, really. They’re all perfect for you, and were in fact written specifically with you in mind, and weren’t at all written by a severely cookie-dependent barely-functioning shut-in with a slew of borderline mental problems. I swear! Okay, you got me, but despite all that, I think I know the holiday spirit when I see it.
And his elves!
Okay then, let’s get to the shopping!
And, before I list all the cool things you could buy for YOURSELF (or others, I guess) for the holidays, let me list some handy links. And, all kidding aside, I’m very proud of all of these projects, and I really appreciate the love that I’ve gotten back for them. Thank you, people… you’re all pretty excellent.

PREPARE TO DIE:
PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES:
The above links are to Amazon, but… PLEASE… if you can buy from your local stores, DO SO! And now, here’s a better look at these books n’ graphic novels…
This is the Eisner-award-winning series focused on the adventures of Bandette… the greatest thief in the world! Bandette is illustrated by the Eisner-award-winning and Paul-Tobin-wife-ing cartoonist, Colleen Coover! It features a mix of our favorite things, from vintage heist films, to Tintin, Modesty Blaise, Diabolik, and adventure… adventure… adventure.
Motorcycle / moped chases!
Big-nosed special detectives with colorful language!
Bandette volume 2 is on the way!
Ahh, here’s some of my writing in a whole different direction than Bandette. Colder is a look at insanity, at horror that unsettles you, the story of what went horribly wrong in the early LSD experiments at Sansid Asylum, and the “Hungry World” that it opened. Art for Colder is by the incredibly talented Juan Ferreyra. The above image is to the first issue, but we loved it so much we used it for the trade collection of the first 5 issues, too!
Oh look. The Hungry World. It is look like a nice place, right?
Nimble Jack. He’s not bad… he’s just hungry. Okay… maybe he’s bad, too.
And don’t forget to check the 2nd of the planned 3 arcs, featuring the unsettling Swivel, as pictured in the above image, which you could probably use on a Christmas card!
I WAS THE CAT
This my graphic novel with that talented guitar-playing artistic moppet known as Ben Dewey.
The back cover has a pretty good rundown of what it’s all about, so I cheated and put it here.
A talking cat. Is he good, or evil? Ha ha ha… silly question. Cats are evil.
I still kinda want a talking cat, evil or not.
The I WAS THE CAT graphic novel is a walk through Burma’s past lives, as well as the combined love of history shared by me and illustrator Ben Dewey.
PREPARE TO DIE!
Look! It’s my first novel. It’s the story of what rather unexpectedly happens when a hero’s arch-nemesis yells “Prepare To Die!” I’ve long wanted to delve deeper into the characterization of super-heroes, and this novel allowed me to explore MUCH further. LOTS more novels from me on the way, including a middle readers series starting in early 2016.
Another project with Colleen Coover! Gingerbread Girl is a mystery of whether the lead character, Annah, is insane, or if her father actually DID extract a portion of her brain and make… in mad scientist fashion… a sister. And it’s all told by a series of unreliable narrators, so the mystery deepens!
Unreliable they might be, but I like them.
Here’s black and white art, but the graphic novel has tones, similar to the dog n’ pigeon panel above.
Gingerbread cookie sex!
PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES
Man, who doesn’t love Plants vs. Zombies? I’ve had a lot of fun first creating, and then exploring the greater Plants vs. Zombies world.
Art by my pal, Ron Chan!
Don’t forget that I’m writing lots of other things, too. If you’re at the comic stores, pick up such projects at Prometheus, Jungle Jim, Turok, Witcher, Angry Birds, and many others!
Your author, gettin’ into that ol’ holiday spirit.
And I am sorry that I ruin everything.
