Juan Ferreyra and I have been hard at work on the 2nd arc of Colder, the ever-so-charming psychological horror-thriller that makes people glare at us.
One of the great enjoyments of selling Colder at conventions is watching kids walk by, staring at the cover, and then trying to imitate it.
Colder… published by the fine folks at Dark Horse Comics, was nominated for a Bram Stoker award, and is currently up for an Eisner. Juan and I are very proud of our work, here. We want to create real horror… not just gross “shock” horror, but moments that really get under your skin and make you wake up in the middle of night, feeling like Something Is Wrong. I’m hugely influenced by the deeply unsettling Korean and Japanese horror films / comics, the grinding tension, the strong characterization, so you’ll see a lot of that in Colder.
The first volume of Colder is currently available (CLICK HERE!) and Juan and I will be starting up the 2nd arc towards the end of this year, introducing a new unsettling bastard of a villain, a gentleman who goes by the name of Swivel.
Here’s a photo of that handsome rascal Juan himself, with a page-in-progress from the second arc, featuring Swivel.
An image from the 1st arc, where Declan and Reece are traveling between the “real” world, and that of what we call the Hungry World.
More art from the 1st series, featuring Nimble Jack getting the upper hand on Declan.
So go get yourself a copy of Colder, and then never sleep again. You’re welcome!
